Whoever think Osun State former Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, will realign with his estranged mentor, President Bola Tinubu, still has to wait more.
The reason is that he seems to be proving that he has left the All Progressives Congress for good as he has assumed office as an executive member of the coalition African Democratic Party.
He, alongside the former Senate President David Mark, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, former Minister Bolaji Abdullahi and General Tunde Ogbeha (rtd) has assumed key leadership roles in the ADC as the party’s newly inaugurated National Executive Committee (NEC).
As ‘The Nation’ reports, their emergence followed the formal swearing-in ceremony of the new NEC on Monday night in Abuja, marking the official handover from the Ralph Nwosu-led outgoing executive.
The event, which took place at the Chelsea Hotel, was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), signalling compliance with electoral guidelines and party transition protocols.
All newly sworn-in members were present during the brief but symbolic ceremony, which took place immediately after the party’s NEC meeting.
The tenure of the new executive committee begins with immediate effect, ushering in a new era for the party as it aligns with a broader opposition coalition to reposition itself ahead of future political contests.
