A 20-year-old man, Mafus Salawudeen, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly breaking into a home and stealing property worth ₦1 million.

The police charged Salawudeen with conspiracy and housebreaking. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, the incident occurred on March 12 between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. in the Akingbade area of Ibadan.

Lawal alleged that the defendant and others still at large broke into the house of one Mrs Olubunmi Beleyeke.

According to him, the defendant stole phones, a radio, clothes, shoes, N20,000 in cash and other valuables, all valued at N1,050,000, belonging to Beleyeke.

He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 412 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Aug. 4 for hearing.
