King Wizkid: Hits 9 billion views on Spotify. Reportedly earns over $1m monthly from the platform alone

The power of talent and industry has manifested in the life of music superstar, Wizkid, as he has made history,  becoming the first African artiste to surpass 9 billion streams on Spotify.

He has been reported to be earning some $1m monthly from the platform alone.

This is as he earns good money from several other platforms and other deals.

In Nigerian terms, he is reaping about N1.5bn monthly from Spotify.

Of al his songs, his hit collaboration with Drake and Kyla, “One Dance,”, which has racked up 3.7 billion streams.

The song not only tops Wizkid’s discography but also ranks among the top 10 most streamed songs on Spotify.

Notably, “One Dance” holds a Guinness World Record for being the first single to exceed 1 billion streams on the platform.

As a solo artiste, Wizkid’s standout track is “Essence,” featuring Tems, which has garnered over 303 million streams.

Months ago, music analytics platform Chart Masters reported that Wizkid generates an impressive $1 million per month from the streaming service, making him the continent’s top earner.

This ranking highlights the dominance of Nigerian artists globally, with Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy trailing in second place with $782,148 in monthly earnings. Tems follows closely in third with $660,210. South African singer Tyla is the only non-Nigerian on the list, earning $607,804 and securing the fourth spot.
