The Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, has inaugurated the first endoscopy machine donated to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu.
Speaking at the inauguration on Thursday, Mrs Abiodun said the donation marks a significant milestone in her commitment to advancing healthcare through her Ajose Foundation.
She noted that the gesture, carried out in partnership with Naykas Health Care Incorporated, a U.S.-based medical team, aims to improve access to quality healthcare services in the state.
She said the team had been providing annual free medical care and surgeries to indigent citizens of the state.
Abiodun said that the medical team, which visits Ogun annually to provide free medical care to the indigent citizens, had significantly enhanced the hospital’s capabilities.
“The teaching hospital has been receiving modern equipments from the collaboration to enhance health service delivery at the hospital.
“I appreciate the management of OOUTH for its support and the institution’s medical personnel for collaborating with the U.S team.
“I advise people to seek medical intervention early when it can be treated,” she said.
Speaking, The Team Lead of Naykas Healthcare, Dr Musbau Kasumu, said the new endoscopy machine would significantly enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities.
Kasumu said that it would also enable medical professionals to conduct detailed examinations and treatments of internal organs and tissues.
“The advanced technology will improve patients’ outcomes by enabling more accurate diagnoses and targeted treatments, ” Kasumu said.
On her part, the Chief Medical Director, OOUTH, Dr Bunmi Fatungase, affirmed that the initiative aligned with the state government’s efforts at providing quality healthcare to those in need by investing in advanced medical technology.
Fatungase said the machine would help detect colon cancer, a form of cancer, which she said, could be completely cured when detected early.
She added that the machine would also aid endoscopy diagnosis and offer therapeutic procedures.
