Three men were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing a Point of Sale (POS) machine and other items valued at ₦168,500.
The accused — Dominic Daniel (22), Edet Israel (21), and Audra Anthony (25) — pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy. Their home addresses were not disclosed.
Prosecutor Inspector E.O. Adaraloye told the court that the suspects conspired to steal the POS machine, a bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey, and other valuables belonging to one Busola Onayemi.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendants stole those items when they lodged in the complainant’s hotel.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 390 and 516 of Criminal Code,Laws of Ogun,2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety each in like sum.
Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until June 16, for further hearing.
