A Chinese court has sentenced Zhang Zulin, former vice governor of Yunnan Province, to life imprisonment for accepting bribes.
The Chongqing Intermediate People’s Court delivered the ruling on Thursday, ordering the confiscation of all Zhang’s personal assets. He was also permanently stripped of his political rights, with all illegal gains seized and handed over to the state.
The court found that between 2001 and 2023, Zhang abused various official positions to provide undue benefits to individuals and entities in return for vast sums in bribes.

Zhang’s case was put in front of the court in an open trial on April 10.
