Nigerian nominees – Burna Boy, Ayra Starr and Tems – were on what a metaphor freak will call prize holiday at 2025 BET Awards as Kendrick Lamar earned choice crests at the 2025 BET Awards on Monday night.
While the three Nigerian stars respectively lost out in the Best Hip Hop, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and BET Her categories, Lamar bagged multiple honors with his sixth studio album, GNX, released last November at the event hosted by Kevin Hart, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
He got Album of the Year for GNX, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year for “Not Like Us,” and Best Collaboration with SZA for their track “Luther.” He also tied for Video Director of the Year alongside longtime collaborator Dave Free.
