Bishop Charles Ighele of the Holy Spirit Mission says only strong government action can end the continued killings in Benue.
Speaking to NAN in Lagos on Friday, Ighele condemned the violence and urged authorities to act decisively.
He said the tragedies in Benue and other parts of Nigeria require tailored and firm solutions to bring lasting peace.
” For example, revival of the economy needs political and economic solutions.
“Absence of a culture of civilised behaviour among the people need a social solution.
“The constant Benue killings and similar killings in other places need a political decision that can only be made by political leaders,” he said.
He said that a major step in the right direction to ending the killings would be apprehending suspects and prosecuting them.
He said that religious bodies would need to pray that actions and decisions which would end the killings should be taken.
He added that religious organisations should offer humanitarian services to the survivors.
