The Oyo State Government has approved the construction of toll gates at the entry and exit points of the Ibadan circular road.

The state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday.

The mini toll gates, he said, would be at the Ife and Lagos ends of the road.

According to Oyelade, the State Executive Council also approved the construction of a toll plaza, flyover and underpass.

He said the approvals were to complement the expansion of the scope of work on the circular road project.

The commissioner said the additional constructions would now increase the cost of the Jagun/Ibadan/Ife axis of the road, of about 16.7 kilometres, from N66.2 to N92.2 billion.

The SEC, he said, similarly approved the expansion of the scope of work on the South-East segment of the road, along the Lagos/Ibadan/Jagun axis.

The axis, of about 15.5 kilometres, would now cost an additional N16.9 billion.

Oyelade reiterated the Oyo State Government’s determination to make the circular road operational by 2027.
