Shoki singer, Orezi, has compared his musical life to that of afrobeats star, Davido.
He notes that while Davido keeps working hard in spite of his successes, he (Orezi) turned complacent and thus fell of stardom.
Orezi candidly analysed his trajectory in an interview with Hip TV.
He says, “I became less ambitious. Comfortable where I am. I took myself out of the competition.
“David dey hustle like say he never blow before. Money dey, everything dey, but he keeps hustling. That’s the spirit.”
On the changing Afrobeats sound, Orezi notes that the genre is losing its core: dance.
“We love to party, we love to dance. If you begin remove that from Afrobeats and replace it with all this vibe-y vibe-y, you’re killing Afrobeats.”
Now, back in 2025, Orezi says he’s fully returning to the scene and ready to go head-to-head with any artist.
“I’ve been around. I’m back. Full force,” he adds.
