Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has announced a major academic milestone after receiving full accreditation for eight of its programmes, including Law, from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The confirmation was conveyed in a letter addressed to ESUT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius Okolie, by the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, following the October/November 2024 national accreditation exercise.
According to the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the newly accredited programmes include Master of Science in Business Management, Education Computer Science, Education Physics, and Agricultural Engineering.
The accreditation is seen as a significant validation of ESUT’s academic standards and a step forward in enhancing the institution’s reputation in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
Other accredited programmes he said were Quantity Surveying; Urban and Regional Planning; and Applied Microbiology.
He said that the letter quoted Section 10 (1) of the Education National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions, Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 as empowering the NUC to lay down minimum academic standards for all academic programmes taught in Nigerian universities.
He said the session also empowers the NUC to accredit such programmes.
