Chief Muritala Audu, a prominent APC chieftain and Aare Oodua of Ihima, has called on the Kogi State Government to take immediate action to address rising insecurity, particularly in the Kogi West Senatorial District.
In a statement released on Monday in Lagos, Audu expressed concern over increasing cases of kidnappings and attacks, which he said were threatening the lives and livelihoods of residents.
He noted that many farmers in affected areas now avoid their fields due to fear, warning that the situation could spiral further if left unchecked.
While acknowledging the progress made under Governor Usman Ododo in infrastructure and healthcare, Audu emphasized that these achievements may be undermined if the security situation continues to deteriorate.
“The government must act decisively. The fear gripping our communities is real and growing, and it demands immediate intervention,” he said.
He advocated for better collaboration between security agencies, local vigilantes, and hunters to safeguard residents and restore public confidence.
Audu called for more resources to be directed toward security operations and for the state to prioritise safety above all else.
He urged the government to deploy proactive strategies and ensure the safety of its citizens, warning that time is of the essence.
Stakeholders, he noted, are watching closely and expect decisive leadership that will restore peace and protect the people of Kogi State.
