Cristiano Ronaldo is diversifying into film at over 40 when his retirement may be around the corner.

The soccer superstar who is, however, not in a hurry to throw in the towel in the round leather game, seems to be building on his record-breaking stride on YouTube, where he has garnered over 60 million followers within a year.

The rapid growth of his, “UR · Ronaldo” channel made it the fastest-growing channel to reach 1 million subscribers on YouTube, according to ESPN and other reports. This achievement also contributed to Ronaldo becoming the first individual to reach one billion social media followers.

Now he has ventured into the film industry, marking his debut by partnering with British film producer Matthew Vaughn to establish an independent film studio called UR•MARV.

While the collaboration is expected to benefit from his massive following, it has already led to the production and financing of two action-packed films, with plans for a third installment in the same series.

The financial specifics of their 50-50 joint venture have not been disclosed. Their investment comes at a time when streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ are increasingly backing independent filmmakers, providing a global distribution network that can help their films reach a wider audience and fuel the growth of the independent film industry.
