Twenty years after any South-West won the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Remo Stars have brought it back.

They have won the 2025 NPFL season – interestingly the day Liverpool won the EPL title.

The region where the likes of the Shooting Stars, Stationery Stars, Abiola Babes and Leventis United used to be outstanding got the crest last when Julius Berger won it two decades ago.

The Daniel Ogunmodede’s side secured their historic maiden title with a 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday, courtesy of Olamilekan Adedayo’s late strike six minutes from time.

With the victory, Remo Stars became the first privately owned club to win the NPFL since Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996.

Remo Stars lead the table with 68 points from 35 matches, 10 points ahead of second-placed, Rivers United.
