All eyes are now practically on deposed but returned Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudasiru Obasa, as her successor, Mojisola Meranda has resigned.

Her tenure became historically short-lived as she was on seat barely for about a month.

It is, however, not yet clear whether Obasa will also resign, based on what is said to be a deal reached when some party elders intervened following the dispute his removal sparked.

Announsing her resignation on Monday, Meranda said,

“This is a notice of resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.”

She assumed office on January 13, 2025, following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is reportedly poised for reinstatement.

Despite her brief tenure, lawmakers lauded her ability to lead effectively and foster a positive atmosphere in the Assembly.

Meranda resigned alongside all principal officers appointed alongside with her.
