Amid rumbling news from homes of some celebrity couples, actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli, has said that marriage has never been a bed of roses for her.
She said it was particularly tough when she had just got married to her husband, Nnamdi, in 2000.
As she and the hubby, however, just shared, other higher values have kept their relationship solid and going.
More celebrity marriages have again collapsed in recent times – including those of superstar artiste Tuface and Annie Idibia as well as comedians Basketmouth and Ayo Makun.
Oboli’s home, however, remains one of the reference points in terms of marital longevity – alongside those of Joke Silva and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, among others.
In a recent episode of Pulse Fun Facts, Oboli and the husband shared their experiences: -“I’ve had moments where I was like ‘Why did I get married so early?’ but never ‘I’m done’. Ever,” she stated.
The couple also reminisced about the early days of their marriage, recalling frequent quarrels due to not dating before getting married.
“When we first got married, we quarreled every single day. We quarreled a lot. We quarreled so much.
“It’s because we didn’t date. That’s what people don’t realise. We didn’t date. So, that first month, we were just getting to know each other well,” she explained.
Nnamdi offered words of advice to young couples, emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility in a marriage.
“Marriage is a responsibility. You don’t go into a marriage expecting it to happen to you. You are not the third party in your marriage. You are the relationship. It’s between two people; you have to make it work,” he said.
