Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu has commended Nigerian star, Tems, for her ‘exceptional talent’ that won her the  Best African Music Performance category  at the 2025 edition.

Tems, whose real name is, Temilade Openiyi,  won with her song “Love Me JeJe”, becoming the first Nigerian artist to achieve this feat.

 Sanwo-Olu also highlighted her commitment to music, noting that her achievement is a testament to the country’s rich musical heritage.

Also noting the contributions of other Nigerian nominees, including Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, and Davido, for their outstanding achievements in the music industry, Sanwo-Olu wrote on X:  “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Temilade Openiyi @temsbaby, for winning the Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards with her song “Love Me JeJe.

“I also commend our other Nigerian nominees, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, and Davido- for their outstanding contributions to music. Your artistry continues to elevate Nigeria’s presence on the global stage, and we are immensely proud of your accomplishments”.
