The hope of suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Beta Edu, to return has got slimmer as President Bola Tinubu has nominated seven new ministers that include a replacement for the ministry.
Edu was suspended in January 2024 over the use of a private bank account for ministry financial transactions in the government’s social welfare programme.
Not much has since then been heard about her.
In an a major restructuring on Wednesday, Tinubu nominated Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction); Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi (Minister of Labour & Employment); Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu (Minister of State Foreign Affairs; Dr Jumoke Oduwole (Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment (Trade and Investment); Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Ministry of Livestock Development); Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development) and Suwaiba Said Ahmad PhD (Minister of State Education).
Meanwhile, the President sacked the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, and four others.
This is according to a statement from the Presidency.
Other ministers relieved of their posts are Uju Kennedy (Women Affairs); Lola Ade-John (Tourism); Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo (State for Housing and Development) and Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth).
