A Kano Shariah Court has ordered a psychiatrist test on a man, Nasiru Muhktar, after he entered a mosque and beat up an imam leading a prayer.
He also tore the cleric’s clothes according to the police.
The court sitting at Kofar Kudu ordered Muhtra’s remand, for the act allegedly committed in the Tudunwada area of the city.
Police said the offences contradicted Sections 165 and 166 of the State Penal Code.
“After the encounter, the Imam filed a complaint at the state police command.”
The court ordered for a brain test on the accused at a psychiatric hospital to ascertain his true mental condition.
The Judge, Malam Isah Rabi’u Gaya, ordered for his remand and adjourned the case to November 22,2024.
