Romelu Lukaku rejected the decision to take Victor Osimhen’s no.9 shirt after joining Napoli in the dying minutes of the transfer market despite the club telling him that he was free to do so.
Out of respect for the Nigerian striker, Belgium Striker Lukaku wore the number 11 for Napoli.
Osimhen was removed from the Serie A squad by the higher-ups at the start of the weekend after his collapsed deal with Chelsea and Al Ahli.
Some reporters said that Lukaku rejected the number 9 jersey because he still belonged to Nigeria International.
Lukaku got off to a dream debut as he came off the bench to score a 92nd-minute equalizer against Parma, which gave Napoli a boost ahead of Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa’s 96th-minute winner.
