Although it will be absurd to compare songs by juju maestro, Ebenezer Obey, and those of afrobeats giant, Wizkid, one can now compare their processes of generating such.
Obey had said years back that he liked composing songs when inside the toilet to answer the phone call of nature.
Wizkid has, however, revealed something different: he composes his songs sitting.
In a viral video, the ;Ojuelegba’ singer explained that he doesn’t stress himself to make hits, instead, he focuses on chilling and creating music effortlessly.
According to him, his biggest songs, including “Holla At Your Boy”, “Soco”, “Joro”, and “Ojuelegba”, were all recorded while sitting down.
There is, however, something controversial in some other points he made during the discussion: that he dislikes hyping or promoting his works.
Many would like to recall how he tried to cause a stir shortly before the release of his latest project, when he said some odd things about certain big names on the scene, including Don Jazzy.
Many saw it as a promotion gimick.
Yet, he expressed his dislike for promoting his music or doing media interviews, stating that he knows exactly what the people want.
The singer praised producer P2J, saying he’s the only one who understands him, and that all they need to do is turn on the mic to create magic.
He said: “All my biggest songs from ‘Holla At Your Boy’ to ‘Soco’, ‘Joro’, ‘Ojuelegba’, I recorded them sitting down.
“You see promo, I hate doing that sh*t. You know press, I hate doing all that sh*t, bro. I know exactly what the people want. [Producer] P2J is the only n*gga that understands me.
‘All we have to do is turn on the mic. The amazing thing is that the world is now globalised, you don’t need anyone to lie to you.”
