Celebrities such as Phyna and VeryDarkMan have risen against the invitation of Miss South Africa 2024 finalist Chidimma Adetshina to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
After Chidinma withdrew from the Miss South African competition, she was invited to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria.
Chidimma boldly accepted an this in a viral video, just days after she received it.
According to the critic, Chidimma’s presence in Miss Universe Nigeria will risk the chances of other Nigerian contenders since organisers will want her to win in order to send a message to South Africans.
Phyna noted in a Twitter chatmthat Adetshina’s selection might jeopardise the chances of “typical Nigerian queens” in the beauty pageant.
She suggested she take some time off pageantry.
She wrote: “Just thinking out loud oh. I’m in support of Chidima o, but this one she now wants to rep us like this… What will now happen to our own typical Nigerian Queens that have been preparing for it too, Omo I for advise her to leave pageant first or for this year… then go next tym.”
VDM argued that it was unfair to Nigerian models who had spent their entire life training for the pageant.
“A lot of people go vex but let’s call a spade a spade, bcos dem reject you for South Africa you finally want compete for the miss Nigeria crown and will definitely win it jeopardizing the chances of those young girls that have stayed in Nigeria all their lives preparing for the moment lol naija anyways good luck,” he said.
