He is unashamed to say this as he on Tuesday announced he was leaving his role as the manager.
Southgate, coached England twice to the Euro 2024 final.
He said, “As proud Englishman, it has been honour of my life to play for England and to manage England these years.”
“It has meant everything to me. I’ve given it my all.”
“But it’s time for change, and for a new chapter. I’m leaving my role as manager, the decision is made.”
