England tackles Spain in EURO showdown

England will look to end a 58-year wait for a major tournament triumph when they face Spain today in the Euro 2024 final at Olympiastadion Berlin Germany.

The last time England won a major trophy was 1966 -the World Cup at Wembley. Meanwhile, Spain won the UEFA league June 2023 when they beat Croatia via a penalty shootout. Though England women won the women’s Euros in 2022.

Gareth Southgate guided England to the EURO 2020 final at Wembley only for Italy to win 3-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 after extra time.

Lots of players who partook in the EURO 2020 final are likely to start today Sunday, including goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford; defenders Kyle Walker and John Stones, midfielder Declan Rice and captain Harry Kane.

Up to 50,000 England fans are expected to be in Germany’s capital for the final against the Spanish side.

England Coach, Gareth Southgate said this in an interview that the only reason he took the job was to bring success to the nation and improve English football.

 Southgate has guided England to back-to-back European Championship finals, as well as the 2018 World Cup semi-final and 2022 World Cup quarter-final, since becoming manager in 2016.
