Star musician, Davido, has advised younger talents on the kind of collaborations they should seek.
Many are hungry to collaborate with big acts but he says they need to look inwards.
During a Hiptv panel discussion with the United States Advisory Council on Africa Diaspora Engagement and Leaders In Nigeria’s Creative Industries, Davido advised young musicians to collaborate with one another rather than pursuing foreign features, stating that “when you collaborate with your friends, they put their all.”
He expressed delight that afrobeats has become a compelling brand globally.
According to him, afrobeats artists are now selling the same tickets as pop and hip-hop musicians such as Drake.
He stated that earnings from an afrobeats single can translate into generational wealth.
“Afrobeats artists sell the same tickets as Drake. Now, as an afrobeats artiste, one song can change your generation,” he stated.
