No matter how much he irritates you, there is still something in him that eventually charms you. Perhaps that is the long and short of the strange personality called Portable. Now, in spite of his rascally escapades – street today and police station tomorrow – he has captured the heart of another big brand, D’Banj. He ‘don make D’Banj fall in love again’, playing on the latter’s hit song.
D’Banj, days ago, revealed he admires something about the younger colleague. So passionate he feels about it that he had to preach it like a gospel.
Speaking with ‘Beat FM’ in Lagos, he stated that he wished he could be like Portable because the latter acted the way he used to when he was younger. He loves the way Portable drops songs almost spontaneously. According to D’Banj, having a bit of Portable in everyone is essential.
“I wish I could be like Portable because he is doing the way I used to do … You feel something in the night, you call Don Jazzy. You drop it in the morning. Remember the way we dey do that time. But now dem dey tell us say make we wait for two or three weeks and put it on playlist.
“Forget that. I think everybody needs a pinch of Portable in them. I think that is what he reminds me of; for you to take everything as an opportunity. They said for you to make it in life you’ve to be lucky. Luck is opportunity finding talent. That’s what we are.”
