Nollywood great, Hanks Anuku, has recalled how many people and organisations abandoned him when and after he suffered depression.
He said even his twin brother stayed away from him.
The actor said this as he refuted claims that he had become mentally unstable, as popularised by some videos in which he is seen at odd places and in strange dresses.
In an interview with Lucky Udu, as posted on the latter’s Facebook Page, Anuku said he was only self-rehearsing for a madness role he was to pay in a film when some people recorded him, with the interpretation that he had become something else.
He added, “I was trying to get myself into character. I wanted to play a mad man’s role. There are different kinds of people who go insane. I was just meditating and trying to get into character.”
On his absence from the scene in recent times, he said, “I had been away trying to get my acts together.”
