Afro Pop singer and song writer, Nwoko Chinedu, with the stage name, Yprince, has called on organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) to make their votes transparent.
The artiste gave the advise in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday Abuja.
Reacting to the recently held 10th edition of the AMVCA in Lagos, YPrince said making the votes transparent would give more credibility to the awards.
“The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is a prestigious event celebrating excellence in African film and television.
“With its glamorous red carpet, diverse nominees, and outstanding performances, the AMVCA showcases the continent’s rich talent and creativity.
“From captivating storytelling to stellar cinematography, the AMVCA recognises and honours the best in the industry, making it a must-watch for fans and industry professionals alike.
“All I can say is that it is a fair one . I think winners in each category deserve the award and recognition they got .
“But if they can work on the vote transparency it will be much appreciated. By doing so, viewers will be able to know the number of votes the winner got during the campaign,” he said.
Speaking on the high concentration of creative events in Lagos, YPrince said it is a wrong notion that an artiste, in any class of entertainment, cannot make until relocating to Lagos city.
He said: “The fact remains that Lagos is a state where many things sell because of the large number of people.
“However, making Lagos a determinant for your growth in the entertainment industry is not correct.
“As an artiste, you just need the right connection and collaboration to be able to blow and make it big,” he said
NAN reports that the 10th edition AMVCA was held May 11, with electrifying performances and history-making wins.
The movie, ‘Breath of Life’, directed by BB Sasore, dominated the event, winning a great deal of awards including Best Movie, Best Director (BB Sasore).
The movie also won, Best Lead Actor (Wale Ojo), Best Supporting Actor (Demola Adedoyin), and Best Supporting Actress (Genoveva Umeh)
