The pioneer Chairman, Kwara Sports Council, Pa Gabriel Ladipo, 98, is dead.

A statement by the Head of Media of Kwara Sports Commission, Yusuf Feruke, on Friday in Ilorin, confirmed the nonagenarian’s death.

“Kwara State Sports Commission has commiserated with Pa GB Ladipo’s family on the demise of Pa GB Ladipo which occurred this afternoon.

“Aged 98 years, Pa GB Ladipo was the first Chairman, Kwara state Sports Council – 1969 to 1972.

“Pa Ladipo a man with vast Knowledge on sports contributed immensely to grassroot sports development in the state during his time,” it stated.

Feruke said that until his death, Pa Ladipo was always at ease to take anyone on memory lane regarding sports in the state.

The statement also quoted the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, as describing late Pa Ladipo as a good, dedicated man and a role model.

He said the nonagenarian, regarded as great man in Kwara sports while alive, would be greatly missed by the sports fraternity in the state.
