The Commissioner of Police (CP) in Ebonyi, Augustina Ogbodo, has reacted to the viral video in which some policemen were shown assaulting a civilian in the state.
The CP, in a statement on Sunday in Abakaliki by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, directed “detailed investigation into the incident”.
He added that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against any policeman found culpable.
“The attention of the command has been drawn to a viral video on social media on the uncivil conduct of some police officers attached to the command.
“We unequivocally condemns their unprofessional conduct and necessary administrative measures have already been initiated.
“Also, a detailed investigation into the incident has commenced to ensure justice and appropriate disciplinary action,” the CP added.
Ogbodo emphasised that the command would not tolerate any form of misconduct or incivility to members of the public by any police officer.
She therefore urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, and report any case of harassment and misconduct to the command through 0803276251 and X FKA Twitter @joshukandu.
