Popular Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu (John Okafor), has lost the battle he had for some time been fighting with an ailment.
Blood clotting was at the centre of the complications he suffered.
The actor was said to have passed away on Saturday, in an hospital he was receiving treatment.
He was 62.
While he had alleged poisoning at a time, his leg was eventually amputated in the course of the treatment.
Only a few weeks ago, some of his relatives were accused of stealing his money through his bank accounts.
Although his family have yet to issue a statement to the effect of the reported demise, the national president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas confirmed Ibu’s passing in an Instagram post on Saturday.
Another seasoned producer and organiser of the Abuja International Film Festival, Fidelis Duiker, has also mourned him.
He wrote on Facebook: “Mr Ibu, you need that rest because the pain was unimaginable. So sad, you left like this but God knows the best.”
Nigeria had also, on Friday, lost a younger comedian, Sisi Quadri, who was 44.
