Nasarawa Speaker advocates inter- state marriage to promote national unity

Lokoja, Feb. 3, 2024 ( NAN) The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, has urged Nigerians to embrace inter- ethnic marriage in order to promote unity, peace and cohesion in the country.
Jatau made the call on Saturday during the wedding fatiha between Mr Mohammed Isimbabi and Khadijat Abdulsalam in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Isimbabi, is a lawmaker, representing Toto/ Gadabuke State Constituency in the Assembly.
Alhaji Mohammed Azaki, the Ohinoyi Ogye of Toto Local Government Area, stood in for the groom’s family, while Abdulkarim Mohammed, a stakeholder in Kogi, stood in for the bride’s parents at the wedding.
The speaker called on Isimbabi to ensure justice among his three wives for sustained peace, unity and progress of his family.
He urged them to embrace peace, love, unity and effective communication for their marriage to last.
The speaker congratulated Isimbabi and his new wife on their successful marriage and prayed God to bless their home with the fruit of the union.
“On behalf of myself, family, Principal Officers, members and staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, I congratulate Hon. Isimbabi and his new wife on their successful marriage.
“I also wish them a peaceful home, God’s favour and blessings,” he said.
He said that the large turnout of the lawmakers at the ceremony
“symbolises the unity” among the lawmakers in the house.
He urged the people of the state to continue to pray and support Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
The legislators, who took turn to congratulate the new couple, also urged them to embrace love, unity, peace and patience and avoid third party in their marriage.
In a speech, Isimbabi, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports, urged the people of Toto Local Government Area to remain calm and embrace peace, unity and respect one another, irrespective of their different backgrounds.
He further urged the people to pray and support the government at all levels to succeed.
He thanked God for making their dreams to become husband and wife come true.
“I am delighted and happy that our dream has become a reality and I pray God to bless our marriage,” he said.
He also promised to ensure justice in his family.
Presiding over the marriage rite, the Chief Imam of Ganaja Junction Central Mosque, Ohikwo Village, Saleh Ibn Adam, tied the nuptial knot and pronounced Isimbabi and Khadijat as husband and wife after the payment of N200,000 dowry.
Adam urged the couple to embrace love, unity, peace, forgiveness and tolerance, among other good virtues of a successful marriage for their union to succeed.
