Man, 54, steals goods worth N730,000, faces prosecution

A 54-year-old man, Clement Shayomi, on Monday, appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing goods worth N730,000.
The police arraigned Shayomi on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Christian Okonofua, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Nov. 27, 2023 at PZ Wilma Ltd. in Odogunyan area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
Okonofua said that the defendant conspired with others, at large, to steal 400kg of palm oil worth N420,000 and two trailer of reams and tyres worth N310,00, all belonging to one Mr Adegoke Sunday, the complainant.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Onalaja, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Onalaja adjourned the case till Feb. 22 for mention
