Against the backdrop of university scandal erupting from Benin Republic, light has been shed on Nigerian universities whose certificates the National University Commission is not recognising.

An undercover report has exposed rackets in which some Benin institutions award face certificates, leading to the Federal Government’s de-recognising those from the neighbouring countries.

There has also been a viral but fake report that the NUC has released a list of face professors in some universities in Nigeria.

Here, however, is the list of universities under investigation in the country in the ongoing efforts to weed out varsities awarding fake certificates.

The list is on the NUC’s website, as first published by ‘The Punch’.

1. National University of Nigeria, Keffi, Nasarawa State

2. North Central University, Otukpo, Benue State

3. Christ Alive Christian Seminary and University, Enugu.

3. Richmond Open University, Arochukwu, Abia State.

4. West Coast University, Umuahia.

5. Saint Clements University, Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State

6. Volta University College, Aba, Abia State.

7. L. I.F.E Leadership University, Benin City, Edo State.

The NUC also, in a warning posted on its website, said, “ For the avoidance of doubt, anybody who patronises or obtains any certificate from any of these illegal institutions does so at his or her own risk.

“Certificates obtained from these sources will not be recognised for the purposes of NYSC, employment, and further studies. The relevant Law enforcement agencies have also been informed for their further necessary action.”
