An unusual history in Nigeria’s journey through democracy is being made in Rivers State as the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill to four members of the state House of Assembly loyal to him.
Twenty-seven of the members have left the ruling party in the state, defecting to the All Progressives Congress amid a battle between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Federal Capital Territory Minister.
The budget presentation came a few minutes after the demolition of the House of Assembly complex started.
The 27 members of the House loyal to Wike were not present at the sitting.
The 27 lawmakers recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
