Nigerian soccer star, Victor Osimhen, has thanked Nigerians for standing by him when Napoli hit him with mocking TikToks messages.
He has issued a statement on the social media in response to the surprising act by the club.
He is delighted that Nigerians rallied round him and expressed happiness at the unity the messages he received symbolised.
This is as he countered Napoli on the suggestion that the people of Napoli have any problem with him.
With a tone still unhappy about the development, Osimhen wrote:
“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.
“The accusations against People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support and reach out to me.
“I’m forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding. FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE.”
As ‘Football Transfers’ notes, tsimhen’s statement comes after news broke that Napoli’s social media executive Alessio Fortino has left the club after two-and-a-half years.
Fortino overlooked the club’s TikTok content and he has now left Napoli, as revealed on his Instagram account.
He posted on the social media app: “Today, after 805 days, my professional adventure with SSC Naples ends. For many this job would be comparable to a dream, for me it was simple daily reality: a reality built on commitment and fuelled by the constant desire to learn and play.
“I cannot help but express my deepest gratitude to all the colleagues, collaborators, partners and supporters I’ve met along this long journey for making this experience so special.
“Leaving the company with a baggage of great memories and an excitement for the new adventures that lie ahead. Thanks again for everything and see you soon! Alessio.”
