Star actress, Funke Akibdele, has recalled how some filmmakers used to deny her roles as they companied she did not have ‘ass’ and boobs.
By the first word, she referred to her back asset.
Besides, she noted, they said she was generally not beautiful, adding that the development used to cause her a lot of headache.
The ‘Jenifa Diary’ maker and star recalled how she broke down in tears every time they passed those uncomplimentary remarks, further rubbing salt to her injury by withholding roles from her.
On Toke Makinwa’s podcast, “Toke Moments”, Akindele who recently released a mini series, “She Must Be Obeyed” also disclosed being maligned over her looks even in the Yoruba movie scene and denied roles as a result.
The twin mom described how Iyabo Ojo intervened on different occasions when movie makers refused her roles and when any tried to consider her for a role, it would usually be a minor one.
“I remember people telling me, ‘You are not fine. You don’t have ass. You don’t have boobs. You will not be in this film.
“And, I remember crying. A lot of times I would cry, break down, get into the bathroom and cry,” she recollected.
