Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that he has been a benefactor to President Bola Tinubu.

He said he helped him retain Lagos when he was governor.

According to Atiku, when he wasthe Vice President with Olusegun Obasanjo as President, the Peoples Democratic Party took over all South-West states except Lagos which he helped Tinubu to retain – as he said.

This is as he on Thursday said he’d end the legal battle challenging the process and election that brought President Bola Tinubu into office after the Supreme Court judgement.

He said, “Those of you who are old enough will also remember that in 2003, the PDP took over all the South-Western states, with the exception of Lagos.

“I stood between Obasanjo and himself (Tinubu) and I said no, you (Obasanjo) can’t take over Lagos. Leave it and he (Obasanjo) left it. So, who is indebted to whom? Is it me or Bola Ahmed Tinubu? I vehemently deny that I stabbed Tinubu in the back.

“The case is still in court. I’ll only drop this fight if the court rules. If the court rules that I’m right, fine, if the court rules that Tinubu is right, fine. There’s no other court higher than the Supreme Court. That is where it all ends,” Atiku said.
