Gov. Alia mourns late Catholic priest, Gundu

Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue has mourned the demise of Rev. Fr. Faustinus Gundu, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Katsina-Ala in the state.

 

Alia, in a condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Tersoo Kula, described the death of the priest as a huge loss to the Church and the state in general.

 

The statement was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Makurdi.

 

The governor condoled with the Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, Most Rev. Isaac Dugu, the entire Catholic faithfuls and the Christian community in general over the incident.

 

“As a servant of God, Fr. Gundu contributed to the spiritual growth and development of the church and humanity for many years, and his decades of service will not be easily forgotten.”Alia said.

 

Alia who is also a Catholic Priest, prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and called on the immediate family and the church the fortitude to bear the huge loss.

 

NAN reports that Gundu was ordained Catholic Priests in 1994.

 

Gundu, who slumped and was later confirmed dead, was the parish priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jootar, Ukum LGA of the state.
