Talent again asserted its enormous power on Friday night as it won a writer $100,000 with his single book.
The lucky, gallant winner is Obari Gomba,whose play won the 2023 edition of the Nigeria Prize for Literature established by Nigeria LNG.
He emerged from the short list that comprised Abideen Ojomu and Henry Akubuiro.
Doggedness, however, played a key role in Gomba’s success because it was the first time he would participate in the competition.
The grand finale held at the Eko Hotel and Suites had in attendance many dignitaries that included the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido.
Among others entertainers, Dance na the Main Thing performed traditional dances including Ijaw offerings and the Lagos’ Eyo masquerade dance.
But the group ensured it fused the old with the new as even its masqueraders danced to Davido’s UNAVAILABLE.
Also, another group, THE DRUM, inspiringly travelled across Nigeria’s literary and musical generations.
