Many children are so lucky that they have both parents pampering them till they become adults. Asa a matter of facts, some enjoy care even in adulthood. This is, however, not the case with some as, beyond poverty issues, their fathers and mothers – or either of the pairs – practically abandon them at the tender age that matters most. The irony of nature is, yet, that a good number of the unfortunate kids still make it to the top.
Among such are some contemporary Nigerian celebrity entertainers. Quickly coming to mind is reigning actress, Bimbo Ademoye, who has revealed how her mum neglected her. She is doing her best to take care of her but their relationship is not yet too fluid.
Also, the death of PEACE singer MohBad revealed that his mother was not there for him when he was young. Well, they reconciled before his death, to the extent that she too is part of the millions mourning him.
The latest revelation to this effect is that of BBNaija star, Pere, who said his father left him and his sister when he was four years old.
According to Pere in a recent interview with TV and radio personality Hero Daniels, since then his mother has been the one taking care of him.
He expressed that his father’s absence, who had died, had a small impact on him because other male characters in the household took on the role of a father and efficiently filled that position. This is one of the reasons he feels more connected to his mother’s home state of Bayelsa.
“I like to say I’m from Bayelsa State because my mum is from Bayelsa.
My dad, however, is from Delta State. My father has never been a part of my life at all. He left when I was about 4 and my younger sister was 3. He used to live in America before I was born. He came from America and married my mum, and then went back to America. A bunch of things happened, and my parents ended up separating. So, I was raised only practically by my mother.”
The lesson in the whole of this: On no account should you abandon your children because you don’t know what they will become in life. Of course, it is also an ungodly act.
