The Southern Kaduna Youth and Student’s Forum (SKYSFORM), has expressed gratitude to the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung, for his “relentless efforts in alleviating the prevailing hardship” facing students from the zone.
The group, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Rabiu Yau Garga, said the Senator’s annual scholarship grant to youths and students of Southern Kaduna deserves commendation.
According to the group, their findings revealed that the Senator has directly impacted the lives of over 400 students across different ethnic groups and religions in Southern Kaduna.
“The Senator’s educational scheme since inception has had positive impact on the lives of over 400 students of Southern Kaduna extraction across various institutions and Local Government Areas (LGAs), sometimes beyond the eight LGAs that make up Kaduna South Senatorial District,” said the group.
The group, however, warned those it called “mischief makers and religious entrepreneurs” from politicising a well-intended scheme that aims to alleviate the sufferings of youths and students from the Senatorial district.
“While congratulating the recent beneficiaries, we also want to warn mischief makers and enemies of the region who are trying hard to rubbish the scheme as a means of settling political scores to, immediately, desist from doing so,” they said.
The group also appealed to the Senator to increase the number of beneficiaries going forward as most of the students across institutions are still struggling to pay their school fees.
It appealed to the Senator not to relent on his commitment to better the lots of students, and indeed the entire Southern Kaduna, because a few bad eggs are trying hard to rubbish him or deepen our religious differences.
