The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), on Monday described late Sheikh Abubakar Giro-Argungu as an exceptional Islamic scholar whose life was committed to the service of Islam and humanity.
The condolence message is contained in a statement issued by JNI Secretary General, Prof. Khalid Aliyu in Kaduna.
“He was a beacon of guidance and unwavering dedication to the cause of Islam, and his departure leaves a void that can hardly be truly filled.
“In life, Argungu remained selfless, humble and very committed to what he believes. He was a symbol of strength and wisdom, above all, a source of inspiration to many.
“Sheikh Giro as he was fondly called was not merely a cleric, but a true luminary of our faith, whose tireless efforts in Da’awah resonated not only in Nigeria, but across neighbouring countries like Niger, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Mali, Ghana, Togo, and beyond,” Aliyu said.
The JNI secretary general expressed delight that Giro-Argungu had mentored countless young scholars cum preachers, as well as the next generation of Islamic leaders.
“His legacy of organising Da’awah and humanitarian programmes are indeed enviable, as it touches the lives of the downtrodden and reflects the core values of Islam and serves as a model,” he added.
The JNI scribe said Nigerians should always regard death as a lesson “that this life is ephemeral and sooner or later we shall be answering the call of the Almighty.
“We should therefore be very bothered and look inwards and should retract from misdeeds and be of good character.”
He said that the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, JNI, Dr Saad Abubakar implored the immediate family of the deceased and associates to bear the loss with dignity.
“We equally call on them to remain steadfast, always prayerful to the deceased and carry on with his da’awah activities.”
He prayed Allah to grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus.
