Mr Olusesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has reiterated his commitment to provide quality value-driven education in the community.
Daini made the pledge during a meeting with the 13 head teachers from all the primary schools across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and the council secretariat.
According to him, his administration strongly believes in putting education sector at the driver’s seat of all other sectors of the economy.
“Education has remained a very important focal point of my administration, in fact, it is number one on the list.
“Provision of quality value-driven education and getting things done properly will genuinely bring about the desired socio-economic prosperity to the LCDA and state by extension,” he said.
The council boss said his administration would start distribution of exercise books, pencils, pens, erasers and others to pupils in all the schools across the LCDA.
He said his administration had also built a new fully-equipped block of five classrooms in Local Government Primary School in Oreta, all-round perimeter fencing of Lajo Community School.
He added that his administration had also begun registration of pupils at the new Olu-Odo Primary School in Olu-Odo Community and distribution of educational materials to each pupil.
“There are about 12,000 school pupils in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and we are dedicated to harmonising and prioritising the needs of every primary school in the area.
“We will equally share exercise books, amongst other educational materials, to support all the primary school pupils starting from Wednesday,” he said.
Daini also stressed the need to establish a new primary school in Oshorun area of Ibeshe, to allow pupils have access to education.
The Educational Secretary of Ikorodu Local Government Authority, Mr Afolabi Amusa, and some members of the council’s legislative arm attended the meeting.
