As the star actor, Bolanle Ninalowo, breaks the news of his separation from Bunmi, his wife for 16 years, the ups and downs that characterised the union have continued to echo in the minds of many people.

A lot of folks outside there have their own issues with their marriages or partnerships, to the point of getting separated or even having worse experiences. But because they are not stars like the Ninalowos, nobody gets to know or bother too much. The star owns the limelight, but to them also belong the burden of stardom. Here, THEM is used since it captures celebrities of both or, if you like, all sexes.

That Bolanle Ninalowo had her wife,  lost her, regained her – but may now have lost her for good? Yes. Although they are both losing the union, the analogy is based on what had transpired when he offended her and the temple of marriage. He had, in past interviews confessed he wildly cheated on her. But he boldly accepted guilt and apologised and the marriage bounced back with love and harmony, at least according to what they  said.

Here is Bolanle Ninalowo speaking to CHUDE JIDEONWO in an interview in the past: “The years when I was feeling too young and cheating all day, breaking her heart; to the years when I wasn’t there and pursuing my dreams. But, I forgot she was a human being who was taking records and taking experiences of her life as well. So, I became somebody that she did not recognise anymore. At some point, I could not call her and she would answer the phone. The woman I had control over, I had no more control because she outgrew me.”

There was a major problem; yet the couple came back together.

As ‘THE PUNCH’ has also now recalled in a story, the actor further noted in another past interview with the medium: “She is quite an introvert. We are practically two opposite people who complement each other well. Before I became a celebrity, I used to show off my wife. She looks like my mother, and I had always prayed to marry a woman that looks like her. I admire my wife and I’m obsessed with her. I have messed up so much in the past and I figured I could rewrite my own story. I am fortunate to have got a second chance, so I am just living my dreams. I am not living to impress anybody.”

To show that calm and normality truly returned to the home, Bunmi too had told THE VANGUARD in February 2003: “The most challenging period was the first few years of our marriage. We had so many fights and disagreements while growing up and getting to know each other better. As time went on, we fought through it all and learnt so much more about each other. We grew to understand that love is not enough, but that respecting each other must be intentional. We built good communication and shared everything.

“I would love to spend our next anniversary on an island; somewhere beautiful, alone with my king, just enjoying nature.”

Now, the union has, unfortunately not only hit the rock of separation, but Bolanle Ninalowo also seems to say he is is not responsible for whatever (latest) issues that broke the camel’s back. Did some other things go wrong from either side? Or are we reading his sentences upside down?

Hear the actor ‘swearingly’ confront the drama of his life in his September 1, 2023 separation bombshell:  “A sad reality that screams that I won’t live or be around forever and must take care of my health & mental state for the goodness of all.

“May God help me and reward me with all I truly deserve or punish me for all I have done wrong if that be the case. In the end, we will all live with the consequences of our actions.”

Interestingly, hopefully, prayerfully, the duo can still come back together, one day.

Hmmm. May God heal all broken minds, hearts, nerves and drams.
