The Ekiti State House Assembly on Monday in Ado-Ekiti met with heads of security agencies over the surge in crime in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting, chaired by the Majority Leader, Mr Tolu Ige, was to develop strategies to address the challenges.
Ige said that it was imperative for all the security agencies to work together to curb the security challenges across the state.
Also, the Chairman, House Committee on Security, Mr. Babatunde Omotayo, and Mr Dele Ogunsakin whose motion prompted the meeting, both expressed concern over recent cases of kidnapping and killings in the state.
They cited the case of a student of Federal University, Oye Ekiti, who was killed by unknown persons, and urged the security chiefs to deploy the vehicles and gadgets recently donated to them by Gov. Biodun Oyebanji, to enhance security in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Dare Ogundare, who spoke on behalf of the heads of security agencies in the state, said 10 suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of the university student, Deborah Atanda.
Ogundare described the meeting as fruitful, and promised that the security agencies will not rest until they make the state secure for the residents.
NAN reports that heads of the Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services, Civil Defence, Amotekun and others attended the meeting.
