The Nigerian film industry has lost another seasoned actor: Musiliu Ajikanle.
The actor who payed a major role in Odunlade Adekola’s Mufu Oloosaoko worked mostly with Yoruba filmmakers.
His death on Monday, July 31 brings to memory the recent departure of veterans such as Fadeyi Oloro Iyabo Oko as well as younger talents such as Dejo Tunfulu and Murphy Afolabi.
Unlike an Afolabi who, however, reportedly collapsed and died, Ajikanle had been bedridden and suffered a stroke for seven years.
His death was announced by Saliu Gbolagade, the Yoruba actor popularly known as Ogboluke.
“Ina Lilah Waina Allah Rajiun. God gave each of us the gift of life, and God gifted us with eternal life. Rest well my dear friend Musiliu Ajikanle. Your footsteps can never be filled, nor your love ever forgotten. May the blessings of a good life lived follow you into heaven,” he wrote.
In January 2021, Ajikanle was captured in an Instagram post pleading with Nigerians at home and abroad for financial assistance to get medical treatment for his stroke.
He was also part of the Yoruba film titled ‘Olokiki Oru: The Midnight Sensation’ released in 2019.
