Chip-off-the-old-block actor and producer, Femi Adebayo, has ruptured the status quo in the Nigerian movie scene. This he has done with his epic, JAGUNJAGUN. Like the warrior that he presents in the film, he has conquered the height that many of Nigeria’s superstar producers have attained.

These include Kunle Afolayan of ANIKULAPO and OCTOBER ONE fame, Mo Abudu of ELESIN OBA and THE WEDDING PARTY’s fame and Funke Akindele, producer of BATTLE ON BUKA STREET and JENIFA.

Others who have, in recent years, proved themselves as powerful forces are Ayo Makun, Zeb Ejiro, Bolanle Austen-Peters, Chichi Nwora, Jade Osiberu and Toyin Abrahams. With works that have rattled the cinemas and other screens, such filmmakers have proved that Nollywood is indeed still on the rise.

But now, many believe Adebayo has ‘scattered’ the ground with JAGUNJAGUN. Although some critics are raising a few negative issues about the film, a majority of movie lovers are rating it highly and enjoying it thoroughly. The fact, however, is that, before now, many had believed that fat films like JAGUNJAGUN exclusively belong to some bloc of creatives.

The question, thus, is: How will the big guys react to Femi Adebayo’s effrontery? What type of films are we expecting from them as answers to the challenge? What style? What theatrics and what surprises? We all wait and see!
