Akeem Lasisi
Popular actor, Lateef Adedimeji, is currently among the most-talked-about screen mavericks in Nigeria. This is based on the role he excellently played in Femi Adebayo’s super-reigning film, JAGUNJAGUN. Adedimeji is Gbotija in the movie.
Based on the oppression his people suffered in the hands of some war merchants, he enrolls into the school of war run by insatiable warrior, Ogundiji. Although he makes great progress in the course of the training, Ogundiji eventually finds him as someone that should be eliminated. He, that is Gbotija, goes through much pain, agony and adversity as he tries to be. In the process, he falls in love with Iroyinogunkiitan, Ogundiji’s alleged daughter who later turns out to be something else. Among the agonies Gbotija survives, he has to sleep in a coffin for 7 days without food or water.
Now, Adedimeji shows super acting in every segment of the film. He is able to match one of the best in contemporary moviedom, Ibrahim Chatta, who is famous for being able to deliver convincingly in every role.
Apart from the fact that many have been saluting Adedimeji, some now say he has got to whatever height Chatta is reputed to have attained. Hmm.
Interestingly, Chatta also appears in JAGUNJAGUN, but very briefly at the end of it. From the Phenomenal family, we say KUDOS to Lateef and hope they reach beyond the sky.
