Sad About Sadio

Sad to see things go pear-shaped for Sadio Mane at Bayern. I don’t think there’s a dispute about his talent and application. And on the evidence of his time at Liverpool, he also seemed well behaved. It was a surprise to hear that he hit Leroy Sane, something for which he eventually apologised.
I don’t know what caused his form to evaporate at Bayern, where Tuchel has pushed him in the direction of Saudi Arabia-on top of being overwhelmingly voted as the worst signing of the last Bundesliga season. Was he on the wane when Liverpool decided to sell? I don’t think so.
Environment is important in football. There’s a chance the one at Bayern didn’t agree with him or vice versa. I don’t think he has become a bad player overnight. He probably deserves to play for another top club in Europe instead of the geriatric parade in Saudi Arabia. Money talks, though.
He will remain an Anfield legend. I am happy he self-declared as a lifelong fan shortly after his exit. He has done nothing to embellish his contributions to Liverpool unlike the shoal of clowns attributing Liverpool’s struggles last season exclusively to his exit.
I don’t have the words to describe such lousy thinking as well as those who held the belief he was underpaid. They are people with the firm belief that causation and correlation are one and the same.
I wish things had gone well for him at Bayern. I always wish LFC players well wherever they go. I was sad to see Coutinho look expended at Barca despite the manner of his departure. Never going to be happy to see a loyal LFC servant struggle except if he turns out for Manchester United, even after playing for three clubs before doing so. Football is my tribalism.
I wish Sadio well in the baking temperatures of Saudi. But a commentator’s/headline writer’s wet dream has been aborted by Mane not being able to play along Sane and Kane (Harry), who Bayern are casting covetous glances at.
Kane, Sane, Mane woulda produced KSM.
